The earthquakes and aftershocks that devastated Nepal in April, 2015 inflicted heavy damage on the Deboche nunnery. Some of the improvements already made will have to be redone. Of immediate concern are the residencies for the nuns and the Prayer Hall which sustained heavy damage. The priceless artwork on its interior walls is now at risk of being destroyed by the monsoon rains. The nuns were made homeless by the quakes, and providing them a safe and comfortable living space is a major first priority.

“ Every country has representatives or family to help and bring their people home, but our poor nuns do not have anyone except us…please help them.”
— Mingma Tenzin, Project Coordinator for The Deboche Project
